☕Conclusion

This project presents an approach to analyzing socio-political memes through the development of SPoMePo (SocioPolitical Meme Perspectivization Ontology). The work addresses the growing importance of memes in online sociopolitical discourse and provides a structured framework for understanding their complex nature and impact.

The project begins by defining internet memes, focusing specifically on socio-political memes that involve social groups, political entities, and events with political implications.

SPoMePo provides a detailed and flexible framework for categorizing and analyzing socio-political memes. It captures not only the structural elements of memes but also their contextual and interpretative aspects, allowing for a nuanced understanding of how memes communicate and influence public perception.

In addition, we showed adaptability in addressing the limitations of existing datasets and with AI models, we created a new synthetic dataset. Their approach to handling controversial content and navigating the restrictions of different language models (ChatGPT vs. Cloud) prompts thoughtful consideration of the ethical and practical challenges in this field.

SPoMePo lays the groundwork for further studies in the rapidly evolving field of digital sociopolitical communication. Its structure allows for expansion and adaptation as new meme formats and sociopolitical contexts emerge.

SPoMePo explores how memes can reflect and shape different perspectives through their structural and textual elements.
